Thanksgiving Activities to Do With Your Little Ones!

Thanksgiving Activities to Do With Your Little Ones!

Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is a day of, as it says, giving thanks. One has to learn gratitude. As a parent, you have to teach gratitude as well. To express gratitude and to actually give thanks for all the things one is grateful for is a skill in itself. Hence, learning this "skill" would invoke this feeling in the child to pause, reflect, and appreciate all the positive things in their life. By learning this, it can enhance one's decision-making skills, learn about resilience, gain confidence, and feel happier and safer with the knowledge of all the positive things in their life.

And that's the best thing about Thanksgiving. It naturally inculcates the ability to express one's gratitude Through stories, conversations, traditions, and shared moments, Thanksgiving becomes a perfect opportunity to help children understand the values of family, friends, togetherness, and meaningful traditions.

It is during these times that we get together and bond, forming a stronger relationship with our loved ones. This may be cooking, laughing together, sharing real moments, and partaking in simple exercises that would strengthen your connection. Maybe you're thinking of what to do for these little activities - to create that bond that is everlasting. Well, we have a ton of ideas for you to try out with your beloved little ones.

1. Thanksgiving Bingo

A great way to bond with your little one is through bingo sessions. It's a classic game that everyone enjoys. By having a theme, you aid your children in expanding their vocabulary to Thanksgiving related terms e.g. turkey, pumpkin, and pilgrims. Not to mention, your little ones are definitely engaged and working with you to learn about Thanksgiving traditions. It's a great screen-free activity and is also safe for the kids as an indoor activity. Check it out here!

Another brilliant activity would be the Thanksgiving Activity Bundle for Kids. This activity bundle consists of vocabulary worksheets, fill-in-the-blank questions, matching worksheets, complete the sentence, tracing activities, and picture-to-word matching. 3. Thanksgiving Food Craft Activity

When I saw this, I genuinely felt the little kid in me do a little dance. I don't know why but the idea of merging food and craft into one just puts me over the moon. There are different ways that you can do this. There may be some freebie templates available for you or something you can draw with your little ones and cut out the different Thanskgiving meal items and then paste on the dinner plate. On the other hand, you can find out how Simply Kinder will provide instructions to make your own Thanksgiving Dinner craft.

4. Thanksgiving Vocabulary Worksheets

The other thing that the little ones can take part in is to test your little one on Thanksgiving-themed English vocabulary. This is perfect for English as a second language or English language learners who maybe want to learn about the different cultures and traditions across the world. It's a handy item for them as it consists of a word bank with the relevant terms to refer to; it boosts their ability to associate images with words after understanding what they mean.

5. Turkey Corner Bookmarks

When I came across these, they actually looked adorable! I found these a great addition to one's bookmark collection, especially if your little one is starting their reading journey or is a bibliophile. The Printables Fairy provides a template for the turkey bookmark that would make a great addition for all the books you're reading. Not only is the crafting process enjoyable, it's guaranteed to make reading much more interesting with having a bookmark like that. Check out the free template as provided by Printables Fairy.

6.  Thanksgiving Matching Worksheets

Thanksgiving Matching Worksheets are the best for the little ones who are just getting started with using the pencil. This is the best for developing cognitive abilities, fine motor skills, hand control techniques, and visual discrimination. Not to mention, it gives a sneak peek into the English language by introducing picture to word matching!
